Frequently Asked Questions

When should I arrive?

We ask you to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your float to sign in and go through our orientation if you are new to floating.

Do I need to bring anything?

We provide towels and products to use before and after your float. We even have a prep room in case you want to apply make-up or blow-dry your hair (we have the hair dryers) but if you'd like to bring a comb or hair brush, it's often a good idea.

Our float rooms are private but, if you'd feel more comfortable wearing a bathing suit feel free.

Can I bring a friend?

Definitely! You can’t float together in the same tank, but you can both float at the same time as we have four float rooms.

What if I’m claustrophobic?

You are always in control of your environment! People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems with floating. The sensation of floating in the tank is more like floating in space than in a confined area.

We also provide a float cabin that has more room for anyone that experiences claustrophobia or feels uncomfortable floating in the pods.

How are the float tanks cleaned?

The highly sterile salt water is fully filtered through a sophisticated filtration system three times between each float and sanitized with a UV system and Hydrogen Peroxide.

Can I drown if I fall asleep?

No. Some people fall asleep, but the water is so buoyant you stay afloat. The worst that can happen is getting a bit of salt water in your eye.

Can I float if I am pregnant?

Absolutely! Pregnant women have been using floating to relieve the stress on their bodies for a long time. If you are in your third trimester or have concerns, please consult your physician before booking your float.

Do physicians or physical therapists use or recommend flotation?

There are volumes of research from the past 40 years concerning the effects from flotation therapy. Physicians and researchers have tested and shown that floating is beneficial for reducing high blood pressure, relieving stress and anxiety, treating fibromyalgia, chronic pain, PTSD, and other physical and mental ailments.

Is there anything I should do to prepare?

Avoid drinking coffee or anything high in caffeine for several hours beforehand (it can make your system jittery). We also suggest not shaving the day of your float, the salt water can irritate your skin. Eating a light meal about an hour to 90 minutes ahead of time stops your stomach from rumbling while you float which can be distracting. Other than that, there’s no specific preparation needed.

What Should I Do If I Wear Contact Lenses?

Please remove your contacts and bring something to put them in.

Can I float if it's ‘that-time-of-the-month’?

Yes. Just follow the same protocol you would for a swimming pool.

How many pods do you have?

We have 3 float pods and 1 float cabin. These state-of-the-art float tanks/cabin offer a customizable experience for you own maximal comfort.

Can I float if I just dyed my hair?

While there is no guarantee that the salt won’t strip some colour from your hair, we recommend that you check if the water running through your hair in the shower at home is fully clear. If there is still some colour coming out you should wait a couple of more days/showers. Usually this takes about 10 days after recently colouring your hair.

Why do I feel nauseous after floating?

In some cases, nausea is possible. Our stomachs are the #1 stress holders. Nausea is a sign that your body is finally letting go of tension from the stomach and abdomen. This is actually a very good sign as it indicates that stress is leaving the body. You should feel a lot better the next day! If you are feeling sick, please step out of the tank and let one of us know.
